W.E. Hill and Sons “Hill” viola bow

W.E. Hill and Sons are arguably most famous in then violin world for their bows, but operated at the pinnacle of every aspect of the violin burliness. They were renowned for their expertise and research in authenticating instruments and bows, for their excellent restoration skills, for making not only violins and bows but cases, and a wide range of accessories, and becoming one of the most dominant dealers in violin history. This well-balanced viola bow stamped “Hill” and made by Arthur Barnes in their Hanwell workshops between WWI and WWII is in exceptionally fine condition. It produces a warm, vibrant sound with a colourful tonal palette.
