"W.E.H + S" Hill violin bow, London

W.E. Hill and Son have become particularly famous for their bows. Made by highly skilled team under the watchful eye of William Retford. They come in four main grades. This violin bows is a particularly fine example of their second grade, [stamped “W.E. H and S’ on the stick], with stiffer, stronger stick than one usually finds at this quality level. A full-length pearl slide and pearl back plate complement an elegantly crafted ebony frog. The bow feels very steady in the head and pulls a full, rounded sound both during legato and more articulated strokes, with enough finesse and grunt to offer great versatility in all styles of playing.
