The demand for student-quality instruments saw the violin-making towns of German-speaking Vogtland produce decent instruments in their hundred of thousands per year. This attractive example now over 100 years old lost what undoubtedly was its “Stradivarius” label but not the sweetness and clarity of its tone, balanced by a ready warmth in the lower registers.
