Thomas Warren violin No. 15 New Zealand 1980

Palmerston North luthier Thomas Warren studied violin making under Ian Sweetman, and quickly established himself as one of our most accomplished luthiers. His copies of the “Hellyer” Stradivari violin are technical masterpieces, and their tone is also excellent. This lovely violin is numbered #15 and is a very good example of his work. Not only is the workmanship meticulous, but the tone is excellent: broad but focused, resonant and effortless to play, with a variety of tone colours on offer. A very pleasing and characterful sweetness is present in all registers, without affecting the volume or projection. This is a very versatile instrument that will appeal to advanced students and professional players alike.
