Thomas Stöhr, Tgelsdorf, Germany, 2002

Born in Erlangen, Bavaria, Thomas Stöhr trained under Gunter Lobe before passing his master’s examination with distinction, a year before this cello was made. He subsequently won a number of prizes and awards for his personal instruments.  This instrument is a workshop cello made under his supervision and bears evidence of his knowledge, talent and skill. The tone is responsive, with a bell-like, ringing quality, and good clarity across all four strings.
