JonPaul Bows have become famous for their pioneering work with carbonfibre and composite bows. Recently, they have diversified back into their roots, producing fine pernambuco bows from their specialist workshop in Salt Lake City, Utah. This finely worked example, with its chiseled, Peccatte-style head, has a stiff stick that can produce power, along with an immediacy of articulation that is very satisfying. The tone tends to be bright and focused, but with good depth to balance a likely spiccato and ricochet.
