A German violin labelled “Iofredus Cappa”
SKU: S730
While many nineteenth and twentieth century German violins carry the names of the great Cremonese makers, Stradivari, Guarneri and Amati, it is refreshing to come across one attributed to the Tarin maker Goffredo Cappa, even when it is dated four years earlier than this maker’s birth date. This violin is made in a style more Amatese than not and has the tonal charm warmth and elegance that this model often brings. The varnish has been heavily if not dramatically antiqued, which may add to the appeal for an advancing student or amateur player looking for something a little out of the ordinary.
