A German violin labelled “Nicolaus Amatus”
SKU: S734
It is refreshing, amid the plethora of German nineteenth and early twentieth century violins labelled “Stradivarius” or Guarnerius”, to encounter on that is not only named after the most illustrious member of the Amati family, but goes a little way towards imitating his style. This violin is further distinguished by its charming and unusual one-piece back, with its soft flame and delicate “bird’s eye” figure. The tone, like the antiqued red-gold varnish, is bold and bright, with breadth, projection and evenness across all four strings. We think this violin will be an excellent choice for a student advancing through the middle grades who enjoys soloistic performance as well as ensemble work.
