Finkel Markus Fisher violin bow
When Siegfried Finkel married Hanna Weidhaas, he was also marrying into a long and excellent tradition of German bow making through his father-in-law Paul, one of the top bow makers in Markneukirchen. Faced with the political upheavals that followed WWII, Paul urged the young couple to forge a new life in Switzerland, where they settled in Brienz. Their son, Johannes, trained by his father as a bowmaker, returned home after gaining much international experience to continue building the prestige and expertise of the workshop. Markus Fisher, maker of this bow, was one of Johannes’s protégées and has now become Finkel’s workshop manager. The bow produces a warm, creamy tone and articulates and bounces well.
