An early nineteenth century European violin labelled “Alexander Gaglianus”
SKU: S720
This very characterful violin was probably made in Germany in the early decades of the nineteenth century, and in a relatively small workshop where skill could combine with individuality. The ribs have a very narrow, elegant flame, while other wood choices, though fairly plain, have good acoustic properties which this knowledgeable and experienced maker has developed to very good effect. The resulting tone has a bright, radiant, bell-like quality, with depth, clarity and focus. The sound is flexible and versatile combining both sweetness and projection, making this violin a lovely choice for an advancing player without the hefty price tag that can come from a definite maker’s attribution.
