Unlabelled 19th century violoncello, France

SKU: S769

This lovely cello was made in France in the early-mid nineteenth century, with an Amatese elegance to complement its overall Stradivarian modelling. A soft, honey-coloured varnish has chronicled its passage through many players’ hands, but the overall structure is very sound! The tone is dynamic, responsive and warm, with a broadness and colour range that gives its great versatility over all registers. The upper strings have an attractive silvery quality while the G and C strings have power and richness. The cello responds instantly to even the slightly touch of the bow, making it a delightful instrument to play.
