Anton Dietl 3/4 cello, Mittenwald, Germany, 1960
SKU: S757
This lovely 3/4 sized cello probably came from the Mittenwald workshop of Anyon Dietl. After WWII, Dietl and his family fled from the Vogtland, in northeastern Germany, to escape the communist regimes of Czechoslovakia and East Germany. They came much further south than most of Dietl's contemporaries, to settle and buils a workshop in the Bavarian mountain town of Mittenwald.
The cello is very easy to play, with a full warm projecting sound almost rivalling a full-sized instrument. We have known this cello for a few decades and it never fails to impress.
