1/2 Rudolf Doetsch No 4992 violin
In the early-mid twentieth century, the Rudolf Doestsch workshops were based in Germany, and supplied customized instruments to several large US music shops. Though their production has now been relocated to Asia, this half-sized violin is a good example of their earlier work, with well chosen wood, an attractive gold brown varnish, and clean workmanship in the style of Stradivari. The tone is open and resonant across all four strings, and will suit a student in the middle to upper grades. The violin is accompanied by a good quality “Dörfler” bow and an as-new 3/4 sized “Bobelock” shaped case.
