German 'Dodd' copy, silver-mounted violin bow

SKU: S451

While this elegant, silver mounted violin bow is unlikely to have been made by any member of the English Dodd family, the maker has captured some of the stylistic traits of their early heads, especially with regards to the sweeping upturn of the nose. At 60.7 grams, this bow is technically of above-average weight, yet it has a balance that creates a light feel in the hand, and a surprisingly clean responsiveness and articulation at the tip. This is a bow for drawing sound out from the string, rather than using force.
