Lillo Salerno violin, Germany, 2021
Lillo Salerno is a Sicilian-born violin maker who trained at the Cremona Violin Making School and the Mittenwald School of Violin making. He honed his craft in several European workshops before establishing himself independently in Pforzheim, Germany. This Guarneri copy violin is handmade in Salerno’s workshop, from Italian spruce and Balkan maple. The belly has a scraped finish enhanced by an attractive, golden red-brown oil varnish. Great lutherie skills and selected materials, along with a professional set up in our own workshops, give this fine violin a full, resonant, warm and balanced tone well suited to advanced playing.
