German violin labelled "Alexander Gagliano"

SKU: S554

This very characterful old violin was made in Germany sometime in the eighteenth century, as its modelling, workmanship, varnish, and grafted neck attest.  The arching follows the Stainer/Amati style, as was popular at the time, giving the tone a silvery quality along with resonance and projection.  Despite its age, the violin is in very good condition after professional restoration and set up work in out workshops.
