Höfner #6 violin outfit, Germany 2002
Karl Höfner founded his workshop in Schönbach in 1887, initially focusing purely on the manufacture of violin family instruments, before diversifying into guitars as well. The upheavals of post WWII Germany saw the company relocate to Bubenreuth, where they still have a strong presence. Their model #6 violins are designed for students in the early-mid grades, and come with a shaped case and a Brazilwood bow. This example, made in 2002 in Germany, before Höfner established their Chinese workshops, has an open ringing tone with a pleasant, slightly throaty character.
