French tortoiseshell violin bow by Lapierre and stamped "Bourguinon"

SKU: B754

This beautiful bow has been reliably ascribed to the French bow maker Marcel Lapierre, but bears a Belgian dealer’s stamp. Lapierre worked for a Who’s Who of prominent French bow makers before setting up his own workshop in Mirecourt in 1948. The octagonal stick is of well-selected pernambuco and the tortoiseshell frog is finished with silver mounts. Owned for some decades by a professional player, the bow has wonderful playing characteristics.
